What is Jump Start Maths?

Jump Start Maths is an exciting early years class for children aged 2.5 to 5 years, designed to make maths fun, active and engaging for young children.

Created by qualified teachers, our classes are full of movement, music, and hands-on exploration. We help children develop early maths skills and build confidence, all while having a brilliant time!

Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who love to move, laugh and learn.

  • Our classes are designed for children aged 2.5 to 5 years old. They are perfect for little ones getting ready for school to give them a fun introduction to maths, but equally are great for any families wanting to know more about children’s mathematical development and just have some fun with maths and movement!

  • We’re currently running classes at Gomersal Public Hall. This venue has a lovely big space for children to move around, free parking, ramp access and toilet facilities. We will be announcing new venues soon, to be the first to hear sign up to our waitlist here and keep an eye on our social media for updates.

  • Our next course is running in the second summer term, starting on Tuesday 10th June 2025 and repeating every week for 6 weeks, ending on Tuesday 15th July 2025. It starts at 10:00 am and finishes at 11:00 am… but that’s just the beginning. Join our waitlist to be the first to hear about our new classes on other days of the week.

  • Our next taster classes will become available when we launch our new venue. In the meantime, join our waitlist to receive 50% off your first PAYG class!

  • An individual class costs £7.50 and lasts one hour. Although you are welcome to book individual classes, they are part of a termly course. We recommend booking a full course to allow children to develop a wider range of mathematical and movement skills and allow them to practice and build upon them each week. Our course costs just £40, which includes a discount of over 10%. You can book your child’s place here.

  • Jump Start Maths has been co-founded by two experienced teachers, Emma and Chloe. Find out more about them here.

  • Yes absolutely! Please just let us know on the booking form, as we need to know for insurance purposes. There’s no charge and our venue is pram-friendly!

  • Of course! No prior knowledge is needed for the children or the adults! We love teaching children of all abilities and supporting parents with early maths development. Our classes are about building confidence through play and movement. We make maths fun for all!

  • Yes! We challenge children through active learning, problem-solving, and physical games, so even if they already enjoy numbers, they’ll still be engaged and stretched. Our classes are NOT about learning to count to 20. We develop number sense and an understanding of shapes, measures and patterns in maths. Equally, we develop balance and coordination skills through movement. There’s always lots to learn!
